The detail
Working with a Squarespace web design agency
Who a Squarespace web design agency suits
A Squarespace web design agency is worth bringing in when you want a polished site quickly without looking after hosting, plugins or updates. It suits studios, consultants, trades, wellness practices and other small businesses with a clear set of services.
It's a weaker fit if you need complex content structures, heavy custom functionality or full control of the code. Those projects usually suit Webflow, WordPress or one of our Framer builds.
Making a template look like your brand
Every Squarespace site starts from a template, which is why so many look alike. As your Squarespace website designer, we change what visitors notice first: type, colour, spacing, image treatment, buttons and the order of sections.
Fluid Engine, the editor on version 7.1 sites, places blocks on a grid inside each section. That lets layouts break away from the default stacked look without custom code.
Bookings, commerce and member areas
Squarespace keeps the everyday business tools under one login. Acuity Scheduling lets clients book from your availability with automated reminders, Commerce takes card and PayPal payments, and email campaigns run from the same account.
We set these up during the build, so booking buttons, product pages and confirmation emails match the look of every other page.
Squarespace SEO and redirects
Squarespace handles plenty automatically, from sitemaps and clean URLs to structured data for businesses and products. What it can't do is write your SEO descriptions or decide which pages you need, and that's where most of the ranking work sits.
When URLs change we add URL mappings, one line each with the old path, new path and redirect type. The field holds roughly 2,500 lines and can't redirect the homepage or file URLs, so larger moves need planning.
Know the trade-offs up front
Squarespace only exports some content, as a WordPress-format XML file, and leaves out store, portfolio and several other page types. If you think you might outgrow the platform, it helps to know now that a later move means a rebuild.
Custom code is possible through code injection on Core, Plus and Advanced plans, but Squarespace support won't help with it and it can affect how the site behaves on mobile. We use it sparingly and document anything we add.
Copy and imagery that do the selling
On a Squarespace site the template sets the frame, so the words and pictures do most of the work. We write or edit the copy for each page, choose and crop imagery to suit each section, and keep headings clear enough for visitors and Google to follow.

After launch
We agree what success looks like, whether enquiries, bookings or sales, and set up analytics before launch. At handover the site moves into your own Squarespace account, with your team set up as editors.
Small changes and checks can roll into our website maintenance service, and an existing Squarespace site that's tired can go through a website redesign rather than a fresh build.
What to have ready
Your logo and brand colours, the photography you own, a list of services and prices, and login details if you already have a Squarespace account. If you take bookings, bring your availability and the questions you ask new clients.
01 — Discover
We review your site, competitors and goals, and check Squarespace can do what you need.
02 — Define
We plan pages, navigation and any booking or shop features, then fix the scope.
03 — Design
We style the template and build each page in Fluid Engine, with copy and imagery in place.
04 — Deliver
We set up SEO and redirects, connect your domain, launch, move the site into your own Squarespace account and walk your team through editing.

Pricing & FAQ
Squarespace website pricing.®
Squarespace builds are priced from £7,500, with a fixed quote once we know the pages, copy, imagery and features such as bookings or a shop. Most go live in 3 to 8 weeks.
How much does a Squarespace website cost?
Our Squarespace sites start from £7,500. The final figure depends on pages, copy, imagery and features such as bookings or a shop, and we fix it after a short call, along with advice on which Squarespace plan to choose.
Can you migrate an existing Wix or WordPress site to Squarespace?
Yes. WordPress pages, posts and images attached to them import, but plugin content, styles and gallery images don't. From Wix only products come across, as a CSV file, so pages are rebuilt and old URLs mapped to new ones.
Can Squarespace take bookings or sell products?
Yes. Acuity Scheduling handles appointments, classes, reminders and intake forms, and Squarespace Commerce sells products and services. Selling paid member areas needs a Basic, Core, Plus or Advanced plan.
Who hosts the site, and who owns it?
Squarespace hosts it as part of the subscription. When we hand over, we transfer the site to your own Squarespace account, so it belongs to you. SSL is free for connected domains, though it has to be switched on in domain settings.
Can our team edit the site themselves?
Yes. Squarespace's Website editor role can add and edit content on existing pages, blog posts and events, but can't add pages, change styles or alter site settings.
Is Squarespace good for SEO?
For most small sites, yes. Squarespace generates a sitemap, clean URLs and structured data automatically, while SEO descriptions are written by hand. What we add is the page structure and copy that give you something to rank for.
What are Squarespace's limits?
Code injection needs a Core, Plus or Advanced plan, and Squarespace support won't help with custom code. Exports are limited too: store, portfolio and several other page types can't be exported, so leaving later means rebuilding.
Is Squarespace or Framer better for us?
Squarespace suits small teams who want one platform for the site, bookings, commerce and email campaigns. Framer gives far more design freedom and suits marketing sites that need custom layouts.
